The
Klezmer Company has
been sharing their love of the music and the culture of Eastern and Western
European Jewry, with a touch of Spain and North Africa thrown in for the
love of rhythm. Mix that tradition with a love of Yiddish Theater and
great Jewish composers like Gershwin, you have nine musicians, under the
directorship of Aaron Kula, playing their hearts out with fire and emotion.
The
company has been active for nearly six years now, playing concerts, festivals,
and of course: weddings.
The
annual spring presentation at FAU campus in Boca always brings in a full
house as the company expands to include guest singers, gospel choirs,
dancers, cantors, and 20 foot video screens for good measure.
The
CD sample is from a live recording from FAU in the Passover/Spring of
2002.
The introduction is a clip taken from NYC
radio during the forties.
